The equities market posted yet another negative outing Thursday as the All Share Index (ASI) lost by 0.84% to close at 32,022.23 basis points. A total of 2,984 deals was consummated involving exchange of 173,473,792 units of shares, with total market value of the transactions amounting to about N3.712 billion. As was the case Wednesday where only one sectoral index appreciated, only NSE BANKING Index recorded positive movement. Not surprising, Market Capitalization went further down; closing at about N11.690 trillion, compared to about N11.789 trillion it closed at Wednesday’s trading session.
SKYE BANK PLC today led a paucity of gainers of just 8 equities with a rally of 9.84%. Other top advancers include UNITY BANK 8.97%; TRANSCORP 4.63%; LASACO ASSURANCE & WEMA BANK 3.33% apiece; and FIDELITY BANK 3.31%. Contrariwise, CONOIL PLC was on top of 22 laggards with a loss of 9.88%. Other top losers were CCNN 9.87%; NPFMCRFBK 9.70%; FIRST ALUMINIUM 9.09%; and NEIMETH 8.82%.
GUARANTY TRUST BANK PLC returned to the top spot as the highest traded equity by volume terms with a total of 28,185,308 units of its shares exchanged. Other top trades in the same category were ZENITH BANK 25,863,588; SKYE BANK 18,870,751; UBA 16,310,894; and FBN HOLDINGS 7,363,085.
